pam-lamberson Pam Lamberson - President
Pam Lamberson , ABOC, CPOA, HFOAA, from Springfield, Illinois has been a practicing Optician for over 35 years. She was mentored by an Optometrist, invested many hours in continuing education and has achieved her ABOC and CPOA certifications. Pam was employed many years working for an independent Optometrist as a dispensing optician, lab technician and managing the last years of her 19 years at Vision Care Associates in Springfield. She was a Business Development Representative at Carl Zeiss, partnering with accounts to grow their business and educating staff. She is an Honored Fellow of the Opticians Association of America (OAA) and a longtime member of the Opticians Association of Illinois (OAI). Pam is the current President of the OAI. She has chosen this life long career due to her passion to help opticianry grow and provide continuing education. Pam is committed to the opticians in Illinois to give them the opportunity to become a Registered Optician. She is supported by her family, including many grandchildren. sheila-harvey Sheila Harvey - Vice President
Sheila Jo Harvey is an American Board of Opticianry Certified Optician. She started her career in 1983 working as an Optician in a private practice, owned by two Optometrists. In 2001 she became a Para Optometric Registered Assistant. Sheila has been passionate in her quest for knowledge in her thirty years, of working in the optical industry. To this day her greatest joy is in helping her patients be able to “see” life in a better way, as well as the confidence they gain in looking their very best. Her role of the Opticians Association of Illinois Vice President has been a dedicated role as Educational Conference Coordinator. As an Honored Fellow Opticians Association of America, she takes pride in bringing the most up-to-date technology and knowledge to share with her fellow Opticians. Currently Sheila manages the optical of a multi practice independently owned by six Optometrists. Her motto in life is to “Carpe Diem” and Step off ...If you continue to do nothing... then you will never reach your Goal! mike-wagner Mike Wagner - Director
Mike Wagner, ABOC, FNAO, from LaSalle Illinois has been a practicing Optician for over 40 years. Initially trained and mentored by a Master Guild Optician, Mike developed a passion for the art of fitting and dispensing of eyewear and contact lenses that launched a lifetime career. He has many years of management experience in all aspects of the optical business and has owned and operated four optical dispensaries, including his current operation, The Frame Shop Eyewear Boutique in Oglesby, IL. Originally from Wisconsin, Mike was a long time Board member of the Opticians Association of Wisconsin, and is a past President of the Opticians Association of Illinois. In these capacities, he has strongly advocated for education, training, licensing and registration for the profession of Opticianry. gene-mitchell Gene Mitchell - Director
Gene Mitchell, ABOC, NCLE, COT is from Springfield, Illinois. He is married with one son. He has held licenses in Ohio and Kentucky. He trained for a career as an Optician at Bausch and Lomb, American Optical, House of Vision and many Continuing Education Courses. Gene has served as president of the Association on two different occasions. He has been involved in the community for years serving as president of various organizations, Knights of Columbus, Lions Clubs, McHenry County Heart Association, Crimestoppers, Chamber of Commerce and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He helped develop the curriculum for the Dispensing Optician Associates Degree at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Gene has a natural ability as an Optician, being able to solve fitting concerns to produce a pleased and happy patient. Gene believes that the future for Opticians is in a good strong education. One must continue to learn in order to produce what the consumer wants and needs.
Marsha 2012-v2 Marsha Slack,ABOC, NCLEC - Secretary
Marsha is currently secretary of OAI and has been an active member for over eight years. She has been in the optical field for thirty two years and holds ABO and NCLE certifications. Her contact lens experience centers around the dispensing and care of gas permeable lenses for the keratoconous patient. Marsha has had extended training through the contact lens department of the Indiana School of Optometry. Now working in the optical dispensary at her current job, her real passion is presenting the new lens technology to her patients. Marsha‘s philosophy is ” Satisfaction and a feeling of a job well done comes when you help a patient combine the correct lens with the correct frame, resulting in a happy patient , that not only looks good, but is seeing better than ever before! “. BJ-photo BJ Poe - Director
BJ has been in retail management for over 30 years. Her strong leadership skills and results oriented personality has cultivated client relationships, increased customer satisfaction and repeat sales to achieve sales plans. Her experience includes sales presentations, merchandising, coordinating promotional activities and training. BJ is also involved with computer graphics and custom printing. BJ has 3 years as an optician and has achieved her ABOC. Her motivation as an optician is to help clients see better.
